Back in October I photographed Philip Brett’s Armada Ships in Benbulben Craft Village, the shoot was very well received (thanks for all the shares & lovely comments!) and kick-started an interest in me to capture local Artists, their work & their working environments. So with that, I give you the very talented Fine Art Painter, Andrea Flanagan. A Sligo/Dublin based artist and graduate from the National College of Art and Design, Andrea has recently been working on paintings in her Sligo Studio.
I hadn’t seen her studio space beforehand so I was delighted walking in there to have a nice big window giving plenty of soft natural light. Once I had my camera in my hands I looked around the room and thought ‘where do I start?’ the studio was full of colour & details. Andrea guided me around, filling me in on her work process & techniques she uses. I was so intrigued by the paintings and how she creates these beautiful works. While having a photograph framed a few days prior to this shoot, I noticed a huge painting sitting in the framers and I could barely pull myself away from staring at it. Sure enough when I enquired about it, it was one of Andreas. That painting is the final photo in this post.
Andrea herself is such a lovely, warm & welcoming person, she made the shoot so easy and enjoyable. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a hard time selecting photos from a shoot before, there was so much to capture. We narrowed it down somewhat but I wanted to show as much of this photo story as possible. So take your time and enjoy the colour and sights of this post & a massive thank you to the very talented Andrea for having me.
