My brother Gearoid invited me for a short climb up Benbulben Mountain one morning last week, tired of staring at a glowing rectangle and with the sun shining outside I couldn’t say no. Given the weather lately it was a good opportunity to get out with the camera outside of work. It was a short climb but tough as we went for the steep incline of the side of the mountain over the longer less strenuous hike we would usually do. It took us just over an hour to scale the mountain and get back down with a few breaks along the way to rest the legs and snap the view.
We stood at the top watching the weather constantly fluctuate around us, watching on as a rain cloud made its way straight across the valley towards us but before we got soaked it took a last minute deviation towards Glengar Valley. The views of Sligo from Benbulben are spectacular even on a mixed day like this one.
Sligo is getting ready for a great year of Adventure, Sport, Music & Art so get involved, get out & enjoy this amazing place we are extremely lucky to call ‘home’. If you don’t call Sligo ‘home’ then come visit us and by the time you leave you’ll want to.
